Spring and summer traditionally bring rebirth and rejuvenation –
and there will be a literal example of that on campus over the coming months
As Seasons and Rushes are reincarnated in a new and improved form.
Seasons is closing for student use from Friday 27 March
but after a brief spell for the Easter conference period,
and the five weeks of the second half of Semester 2, it will be reborn in summer.
During this period of closure, all of the University’s other catering outlets will be open as usual. Available outlets are:
- Rushes
- Sorrento
- Chancellors
- Helen Rose Bar / Youngs
- Starbucks
Food will also available from the University Bookshop, the Union Shop and Onestop as usual.
Rushes will be closing from 29 May as part of the redevelopment of the site into the new Learning Resource Centre.
But fans of good sandwiches and builders’ breakfasts need not worry!
The new venue will incorporate breakfast opening and increased sandwich options to cover all tastes.
The new restaurant will take the best bits of Rushes and Seasons' great value offerings and combine them in a custom-fitted venue to bring you added comfort and an 'easy eating' atmosphere.
Tub chairs, sofas and a complete refit and redesign will greatly enhance the look and feel of the venue, which will be a larger space than Seasons currently provides.
Simon Booth, University Catering Director, commented,
“We’re all really excited about the new restaurant – it’s a great opportunity to bring together the
things everyone likes from Rushes and Seasons and take everything up another level to provide fantastic food, a relaxed environment and friendly service to everyone.”
The changes being made are more than just skin deep. Simon promises,
“We want to provide great food and great value, and have taken steps to source nearly all of our
ingredients from local farms and suppliers.
For example, our meat will be hand-delivered fresh from Conisbee butchers every day also a great new range of Fresh naturally organic sandwiches and salads”
Add to that the inclusion of a front of house chef to cook your food in front of you
in a new ‘theatre kitchen’ feature and it’s clear we are in for a different, engaging experience when the new restaurant opens its doors.
In fact, the new venue will be as much a social space for staff and students as somewhere to eat and drink.
It will be your place for good food, good times and good choice
