Welcome to the Planning Department
Planning Department is responsible for developing and supporting the processes by which the University plans for its future development and develops and implements its long term strategy. This covers:
- long-term strategic plans (What sort of institution do we want to be in 20 years? How should we respond to the changing environment in which we operate, considering factors such as Government policies, Economic drivers, Student and Research needs, UK & Overseas competitors?).
- medium-term operational planning (e.g. 4 year plans for Faculties and central services).
short-term targets and financial plans (e.g. next year’s budgets; student intake targets).
Planning Department provides Management Information to decision-makers throughout the University to monitor key performance indicators, using a balanced scorecard, and progress towards achievement of strategic objectives.
The Department is also responsible for making statutory returns to HEFCE and HESA and for providing support for RAE submissions.
Our aim is to provide relevant, high quality guidance, support and information to Faculties, to Support and Administrative Services and to University Companies to enable them to plan more effectively to play their part in a highly successful University of Surrey in the future.
We hope that you find the information in our website readily accessible, understandable and useful. If you have comments or suggestions on any aspect of this website, please contact our Departmental Administrator, Dominique Sol.
