Your wedding

From the initial enquiry through to the day itself, you will be assigned a catering manager who will work closely with you, offering advice and support along the way. We have a beautiful lake which is set in landscaped grounds, providing an idyllic backdrop for arrival drinks and photographs.

The hire charge for Hillside Restaurant is 550 (including VAT) for the day. This rate includes:

 

Cake stand, round or square, and knife

Glass of house Champagne for Bride and Groom whilst cutting the cake

Flowers for the top table one long and low or centre table arrangement

PA and microphone for speeches

Bar facilities until 0100

 

There is no minimum spend on catering or minimum number of guests, although we would recommend at least 80 guests due to the size of Hillside Restaurant.

Hillside Restaurant is the perfect setting for your wedding breakfast or buffet. When booking your reception with us you can be confident that the catering arrangements for your day will be professionally managed by our team of experienced in-house chefs and event organisers, leaving you to celebrate and enjoy precious moments with family and friends.

Comfortably seating up to 200 people, the restaurant also has space for entertainment and a welcome drinks reception area which can be divided from the main section of the restaurant by a moveable glass wall. For larger events, Hillside can seat up to 300 guests when using the modern and elegant Roots Bar, together with the University Hall as the entertainment area.

Hillside Restaurant has floor to ceiling glass doors which open onto a patio to the rear of the restaurant, ideal for summertime drinks.


Hillside can be set up in a variety of layouts, depending on the number of guests, including round tables, squares of eight or 10, and the traditional top table with sprigs.

We can supply flowers, balloons and table decorations, although we are happy to work with you should you wish to provide your own.

Napkins can be provided in a wide range of colours to co-ordinate and complement your own theme.

For evening entertainment, we can arrange for disco hire with packages starting at 300 (plus VAT) - click on link below for further information. Alternatively if you would prefer a band, we can organise this for you.

Have you considered arranging your own catering?
We understand that your wedding day is quite unique and that you may have your own caterers who you would prefer to use for your day. This is why we offer the opportunity to hire Hillside Restaurant and our kitchens so you can make your own arrangements for food and drink.

If you wish to take this option then we will provide the following within the hire charge:

Restaurant kitchen

Square table layout for 8 people per table (maximum seating for 300 people)

Linen table cloths

We will also provide the following staff on the day:-

Kitchen porter to wash up

Kitchen Liaison Supervisor

Catering Liaison Manager


Hire cost is 5000.00 inclusive of the above facilities and services.


Your chosen caterers will need to provide the food, all cooking, kitchen and serving utensils, all crockery, cutlery and glassware along with serving cruets. They will also need to provide all serving and waiting staff.


There are conditions which must be met prior to hire of the restaurant on this basis. The caterers must be able to provide a copy of their last Environmental Health Officer report and the contact details of their local EHO. We will then check suitability before confirming the reservation.
