This course provides an up-to-date appreciation of the development and application of polymers in engineering. The emphasis is on the newer and more advanced polymers. The course starts with an overview of the science of polymeric materials. This leads into a detailed discussion of mechanical and physical properties. Some of the more important, newer materials are described and the course concludes with a discussion of trends in polymer utilisation in leading industries.
