The intention of this course is to concentrate on the science rather than the technology of adhesion, with emphasis on basic and advanced concepts of interfacial physics and chemistry. Wetting and spreading is considered in depth, along with methods for surface modification. Techniques available for surface analysis are reviewed, and adhesion test methods are considered. This course is complementary to the course in adhesive bonding technology.
