Research Interests

My research started out in combustion technology, in particular vortex combustion, and moved over the years to the instrumentation side of combustion in the development of a heat flux probe and an on-line laser doppler based particle sizing instrument. Following a brief spell in the development of a novel vortex combustion process for production of glass ballotini, I took up a permanent appointment as Senior Experimental Officer within the department. Recently I have re-visited my original vortex combustion reasearch by co-supervising a PhD student in the CFD modelling of various vortex combustion incinerators working with both the US Navy and BASF. However, the majority of my time is now spent in support of other research projects and the managing and support of the computing facilities within the department.

Current Activities

Currently I am actively engaged in developing and managing the computing facilities of the School.
