Bridge Engineering

Introduction

The programme has been running successfully in Civil Engineering for more than 35 years, and is unique worldwide.

The aim of the programme is to provide technical knowledge and skills for professionals working in this area. A selection of modules covers the subjects of design, analysis and management of bridges.

The modular structure allows students to specialise within the programme. Students may study one year full-time or two to six years part-time. Most modules are available in the classroom or by distance learning.

The postgraduate programmes are organised and delivered by Civil Engineering's own staff, and staff from outside consultants and local authorities active in bridge engineering.

Accreditation

The programme is approved by the ICE and IStructE as meeting the requirements under UK-SPEC for periods of Further Learning leading to Chartered Engineer status.

The Benefits

The programme provides students with a sound knowledge of bridge engineering. There is a growing belief that a taught MSc provides the best grounding for a career in bridge engineering.
