Leaving Residence Early
In common with most providers of student accommodation, the licences/tenancies offered by the University are for fixed periods. This means that once you have moved in there is a financial penalty if you decide to move out. The rules about this are included under 'Notice to Leave Residence' in the Conditions of Residence. The appropriate conditions are detailed below. You can download a 'Withdrawal Form' using the link opposite.

For 2010-2011:
Notice to leave residence must be given in writing by letter, email or by using a withdrawal form available at the Accommodation Office. Up to 10 December 2010 all residents may give 4 weeks notice to leave residence and should leave by 7 January 2011. Up to 11 May 2011 only residents in yearly rooms and in yearly occupation of family flats may give 4 weeks notice to leave and should leave by 08 June 2011. Beyond these deadlines no rebate of rent is given if you decide to leave unless we are able to re-let your room. If you leave before the end of your licence or tenancy you will be required to continue instalment payments until your account is cleared in full.

If a resident ceases to be student by withdrawing from their course or course termination, their licence to occupy University Accommodation and therefore their liability for rent, ceases when they move out and return the key.
