Conditions of Residence 2010 - 2011
Exchange Students Housing Policy
  • Students staying for a whole full academic year (September to June) or longer, will have priority for available places;
  • Students attending for the first semester only are unlikely to be offered University accommodation and will therefore have to find accommodation in the private sector (see below);
  • We will do our utmost to offer a place in accommodation to Students starting in February but can no longer guarantee a room.
  • Where Faculties or Departments nominate a different student in each semester this will be treated as equivalent to a full year and such arrangements will have priority for available places
  • Exchange and Occasional students’ allocated accommodation for the first semester only may not give notice to leave and are required to pay rent for the whole of the semester (September to February).

Private Sector Housing
Exchange and Occasional students who are unsuccessful in getting a University room will be assisted to find private housing in Guildford. To find a place it is best to come to Guildford.  For more information see private sector housing

Warning - Internet Fraud

If you are seeking private sector accommodation beware of offers, via email, to rent houses or apartments which involve paying a large deposit and rent, in advance, before you have seen the accommodation or met the landlord. The criminals who carry out these scams use pictures, passports and other documents in a sophisticated fraud to persuade you that the accommodation exists. Once they have collected your payment contact ceases, and the promised accommodation fails to materialise.
